Ofloxacin is a second-generation Fluoroquinolones antibiotic an analogue of Norfloxacin. It is an antibacterial agent and used widely for the treatment of mild to moderate bacterial infections. It is schedule H drug (prescription drug).
In the National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM) by World Health Organization (WHO) ofloxacin is listed as the most effective and safe medicines for bacterial infections. Currently, it is used topically as eye and ear drops.
